Raphael Bendahan
BiographyOriginally born in Casablanca, Morocco, Bendahan immigrated to Toronto when he was 8 years old. In 1969 he left high school in his final year to attend the controversial Rochdale College.. While there, he started a photography journal called Impressions. As a photographer his style gravitated towards documentary realism. As a filmmaker Bendahan created films in both the documentary and experimental film traditions, his work generally dealing with issues of identity, memory, and history.
